The International Association of Fire Chief’s (IAFC) Ready, Set, Go! Program announces the 2017 RSG! Program Awards. The awards recognize the exceptional efforts and achievements of fire departments, state agencies and individual fire service members associated with implementing and maintaining a successful Ready, Set, Go! Program in their community, in turn improving wildland fire preparedness dialogue between local fire departments and the residents they serve.

Do you know an RSG member who is deserving of recognition for their dedication to RSG mitigation efforts? Nominations will be reviewed by members of a technical review committee and the winners will be announced in February of 2017.

Four awards are open for consideration:

RSG Excellence Award:
• Use of program demonstrated through AMS or other documentation and communication with RSG staff. These member efforts will be based on specific success achieved in the prior calendar year.

RSG Innovation Award:

The Ready Set Go! Program is a program funded by the USDA Forest Service to promote improved dialog on wildland fire preparedness between fire departments and the residents they serve. The program provides the guidance and tools, free of charge, for any department, regardless of size or resource ability to communicate with residents about what to expect in a wildfire, how to adopt successful and existing defensible space guidance and to raise situational awareness in the public that during the early stages there may not be enough firefighting resources to protect every home.
