The International Association of Fire Chief’s (IAFC) Ready, Set, Go! (RSG) Program announces the 2019 RSG! Program Awards. The RSG! awards recognize the exceptional efforts and achievements by fire departments, state agencies and fire-service members associated with implementing and maintaining a successful Ready, Set, Go! Program in their communities and improving the dialogue with residents about wildland-fire preparedness.

One award with two categories, the RSG Award for Excellence (Career Department and Combination/Volunteer Department), is open for consideration.

Award criteria include:

  • Demonstrated contributions to the RSG! Program through program development and dedicated efforts by those who through leadership conveyed the importance of encouraging others in the fire service and throughout the community to be partners in the wildland-fire solution.
  • Impact of effort on the communities served and RSG! Program improvement within their jurisdiction.
  • Use of the RSG Program, demonstrated through AMS or other documentation and communication with RSG staff. These member efforts will be assessed based on specific success achieved in the preceding calendar year.

Award recipients will be invited to the IAFC’s Wildland-Urban Interface Conference in Reno, Nevada, in March, where the awards will be presented. Travel, lodging, conference participation and award costs are complementary to award recipients.

Nominations will be reviewed by members of a technical review committee and the winners will be announced in March 2019.

Deadline for nominations is January 18.
