Apply now to be one of ten departments RSG staff and WUI subject matter experts will work with to reduce wildland fire risk in their community. This will include developing a public awareness campaign with customized resources and conducting a defensible space demonstration. CWPP development/updates or an evacuation tabletop exercise may also be included.
Carson City Fire Department established a mitigation trailer program that places trailers in communities for residents to load their removed vegetation, then the department hauls the trailers to the local landfill. In 2019 alone (as of October 31, Oct 2019), this program has removed 270 tons of hazardous vegetation with over 450 residences participating.

The Ready, Set, Go! (RSG) Program, managed by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), is accepting submissions for contractor positions to assist with facilitating targeted wildland fire community risk reduction.
Through a combination of thinning and chipping the Tri-County FireSafe Working Group has treated 124+ acres along roadside project sites, positively impacting potential evacuations of residents and increasing firefighter safety.
The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District has treated 112 acres and 811 structures so far this year using mastication, prescribed fire, & thinning. Partnering with other agencies and gaining community buy-in has been key to their success.
