Wildfire Risk Reduction Assistance Application

The IAFC RSG! Program invites fire departments operating in areas with high wildfire risk to apply for its new targeted risk reduction assistance opportunity. A total of 10 fire departments across the country will be selected to receive assistance from RSG staff and Subject Matter Experts on implementing wildfire risk reduction in their respective communities. Staff will work with department personnel to identify and address their community needs and assist with implementing a public awareness campaign that motivates residents to engage in community risk reduction efforts.

This will include:

  • Development and implementation of a public awareness campaign, including a community engagement plan and customized education and outreach tools. Development and printing of customized materials are covered.
  • Assistance for conducting a defensible space demonstration for the community, highlighting smart practices in fuels reduction.

Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) development/updates or an evacuation tabletop exercise may also be included.
